Black Rock New Year’s Eve FAQ

Are there paper tickets?

No, see above.

When does the party start/end?

Doors open at 8:00 p.m.  Closing time is 2:00 a.m.  We will be done serving drinks at 1:30 sharp.  Please note the bar will not be serving between 11:45 p.m. and midnight so we can open and distribute champagne.

What does the bar package include/not include?

We will have a special event draft list featuring 17 celebration-worthy beers (the full list will be announced before the event), as well as a selection of bottles and cans.   Premium (i.e. “top shelf”) liquor cocktails are included, as well as wine, champagne and non-alcoholic drinks.  “Doubles” are not included but tall drinks are.  Shots, carbombs, jagerbombs etc. are not included but may be purchased at the regular price.

What kind of music will you play?

We will play a mix of fun party music—rock, pop, hip-hip, dance music etc.  As one would expect, the selection is mellower earlier in the evening and “dancier” later on.

Is there a dance floor and/or dancing?

That’s up to you.  There is no designated dance floor, but we’ve learned that whenever open bar and fun music meet, dancing happens.  A dance floor materializes somewhere in the bar every New Year’s party, and we expect the same will happen this year.

How do I get to and from Black Rock?

Our address is 3614 N Damen, at the intersection of Damen and Addison. There is a Brown line L stop at Addison, just one block east of the bar.  Schedules and other relevant CTA info can be found at www.transitchicago.com.

Cabs should be available around closing time, and can be found most easily just a few steps away at the intersection of Damen and Addison.  If you have a designated driver, there is typically adequate street parking near the bar (but please for your own safety and the safety of others do not drink and drive!)

Is there a coat check?

Yes.  The cost is one dollar.
